every once in awhile E gets a call from a local temp agency asking him if he wants to work a crappy job. the last job he worked was with the OK tax commission. it think there was taping W2s involved. well, he got a call on thursday and they offered him a job for the city of edmond doing lawn mainetance, weed eating, etc from 7am-5pm making $5.70 an hour. keep in mind, i realize it's a temp job and not a tremendous amount of skill is required but it's 104 degrees outside and they are only paying $5.70 an hour for someone's time. and they did advise him to bring water.
it's been interesting because i've been struggling with this. if he works, he makes money which helps save money and buy things we need. but 104 degrees seems so horrible and to only make about $40 bucks a day before gas and any expenses. and then i feel bad because i realize someone people are forced to work that - they have no choice. i've told E no, that there is no reason he should subject himself to that for that little money and tell them why. it's just been very interesting to ponder.
and then on the late night oprah, she interview morgan spurlock about 30 days on minimum wage show. it was really interesting and sad. but forces me to continue to ask why people are forced or choose to live with such low pay. and what are the culture, educational or societal issues that impact their lives.

Nothing interesting to say here, except that I got to meet Morgan Spurlock at a Muslim Public Affairs Committee Awards Ceremony last year. I like his stuff. Kyle.
