so this week has been a little crazy busy at work...meaning that i haven't had much time to blog. but seriously, we've been working on this huge mailing to high school and 8-10th grade counselors. we've mailed about a bizzillion and forty brochures. this has involved counting, packing, taping, labeling and i am wore out. my back is all out of whack, my finger tips hurt and i have too many paper cuts to count. good times and thank goodness for my college education.
on a happy note the bizzillion brochures that we mailed out are the brochures i've been fretting about for about three months. anyway, they are done and i'm very happy with them. i didn't design them but i had a huge amount to do with the creative direction and i think my designer did a great job. woo hoo. once they are available to view online i'll post a link.
tonight i went to the library to find some movies for my long holiday weekend. despite my subscription to netflix i still find the need to watch more stuff. i have a very sad life. while browsing the library and picking up 5 books that i will not read (or will read 20 pages each) i found a book titled "I'd Kill for a Cookie" and it just made me laugh. i'm not sure i would for a cookie but maybe a donut.
i also picked up some old school madonna and i noticed that madonna was born two years after my mother. madonna could be my mother...i don't know if that makes me feel better or worse.
sorry, i am all over the place today. but during our mailing sessions this week we listened to KOMA (or oldies, which by the way, i think has shifted to include 70s music now) and my good male baptist co-worker at one point made a comment a long on the radio. he commented that it was john lennon's song "my sweet lord." he said that the song was about the hare krishna and how it was so sad that someone like john got wrapped up in this other religion - what if he had found God? which at first just seemed like a typical baptist comment but the more i thought about it the more i thought - what if john lennon would have become a Christian - what would have occured? would he have been as successful? would you still hear his song on oldies radio? would he have become a bono or a steven baldwin? my guess is he would have had to start writing more blatant christian songs with a bunch of JPMs (Jesus' per minute) in order to be accepted by Christian culture or he would create music to still get mainstream attention but the christian community would have rejected him. i just thought my co-workers comment was sort interesting and i'm still pondering it so i might come back to this. have christians created a culture that doesn't allow believers to be relevant in the real world?
i would also like to point out that the song was actually sung by george harrison.
i'm leaving work early today to go to a couple of doctors appointments. a counselor and some fun annual stuff. good times. no big plans for the weekend. e is in california so i've got lots of spare time on my hands.
happy weekending.
