friday 5:00...so close...yet so far away...

i received a very funny and interesting email yesterday from my friend melissa in LA. here is an excerpt -

"Now when I think about you and wonder what you've been up to I go to your blog and find out. Is it a further replacement for human interaction? Just as I could have called to tell you this but instead I am emailing."

i found this to be a very interesting observation. at first thought i wondered that she might be right but then again i thought if she didn't read it would she call to see how i was. probably not as often as she could visit the blog. is it possible that a blog is a convenient way to check in daily with our friends? we can check in, leave commitment free comments and know that we've made some contact. the other alternative is to not make contact at all. i must admit though it does seem like i am living more and more of my life in front of a monitor and less and less talking face to face with people. thoughts?

another thing melissa said was -

"I feel like a Christie blog leech. I secretly suck the information you share and get a glimpse of your day to day. "

what's interesting to me about this is that i've been thinking about this very idea a lot. if those of you reading this (all 6, maybe) weren't reading this, i probably would quit. even though i find it helpful and a way to express myself...i like the feedback and want to know that people read it. and honestly i feel guilty for saying that, as if my life is so interesting or profound that anyone would want to read it. the more i dive into this blogging world the odder i find it to be.

mel thanks for the observations and i hope you don't mind me using your comments. i'm super excited to see you guys next week!

a brief update on some things -

half-marathon - it's sunday. i'm feeling ok about it. i've trained as much as i can train. i think i'm more frightened by the 6:30 am race start than anything.

exercise - i've been doing great this week. today i even packed a gym bag so i could go between work and class but i forgot my running shoes...suck. so instead i went to the new marshalls (i'm digging that store). i am excited about having some exercise downtime but am really scared i will completely fall off the wagon so i need to find a happy medium. i'm considering some yoga and water aerobics. but next week there will be some serious couch time and healing for the blue toe.

weight - i'm still holding onto about 3 lbs that i would like to lose. but on a seriously happy note (and proud) i have officially maintained my weight-loss for 1 year. woo-hoo.

work - i'm starting to feel pretty settled. my co-workers are fab. my boss is crazy. overall government workers are an odd breed. and the cube, is still just a cube.

back - i've seen the chiro twice and will visit again tomorrow. i'm feeling a lot better. fingers crossed.

must sleep...happy friday.
