just a big ole hodge podge...

so i've been missing around here lately but fear not...i have lots of random tidbits to pass on.

my friends in kc have recently joined the twitter club and being the follower i am...i had to join too (so let me know if you get on the twitter train).  i read a blog about twitter and tornadoes recently that i thought it was fascinating...we are living in a new world friends.  unfortunately, me and you would be dead because twittering on my phone is just funny...i can barely text much less access the internet via my crappy phone.

unless of course my mother gets me that iphone for my birthday.

if i only had hula hoop workouts think of how good of shape i would be in.

a post from my favorite blogging nun about happiness. i found the comments the most insightful.  as you know, me and happiness go round and round...i tend to think these days that happiness occurs in snippets or glimpses and you just have to take them when you get them.  life is hard and most of it is fleeting and i wonder if we could just embrace that idea, we might enjoy the experience a bit more.

and because i'm a nerd...i want one of these.

after having a conversation a few weeks ago with hippie stephanie, i've been thinking about my connection with food a lot.  these ponderings originated with discussion of my love of baking and finding alternative ways of using ingredients.  ie. my love of the vegan cupcake cookbook even though i'm not a vegan.  and i've come to the conclusion that this comes from my grandmothers influence on me as a child and this influence is both good and bad.  this woman cooks like no other and there are some foods that just take me back to my childhood and bring me joy, comfort, contentment.  but i also think these feelings also make the the little piggy i am today...looking for those same emotions.  but anyway, i digress.  so a week or so ago i was at the library and stumbled across the book "starting from scratch," which is basically the authors memoir tied in with recipes of her family.  very interesting...it very much resonates with me as i think about the influence of food on me.

so that's enough of that...things are good.  the job is good (despite my twittering last night which should have said "working sucks" because it clearly interferes with me time).  i'm really busy and am having to consciously work to not get overwhelmed. i'm trying to get outside and exercise as much as possible these days...i'm not sure the summer clothes are going to slide right on otherwise. i'm thinking about taking a knitting class soon...i feel the itch to learn something soon.  also, trying to figure out how to get out of town...my tax refund is trying to spend itself before it's even arrived.  i took my vitamin today and i've got 29 minutes to get to bed...i think i might just make my goals today.
